PS Tutorials - Combining Two ImagesHello there, kids. It’s been a long time since my last tutorials on the previous Blog. It was so fun to write that I’ve forgot to bring a lesson here. OK, here’s what I’ve got :

Tutorial - Combining Two Images

Tools of the TradeAdobe Photoshop CS-CS3 [It's not recommended for PS7, since the "Reduce Noise" features wasn't there at that time.]
Difficulty : Easy
Purpose : To keep it together ? Sometimes it was nice to keep your two favourite renders out on the same Wallpaper.

Choosing the Right one

We need Renders. Renders (In Photoshop languange) is an object that have been chopped from the whole image. As you may know that choosing the right ones isn’t that easy. Of course, Render is chopped from its scenery before you use it. So you may think that to get high-quality render, you must choose the image first.  Well, Resolution could be the main idea. Think about 1280×1024 Wallpapers, and you will get a-good-looking render that will get rendered by yourself. But I know, some of you wants to make it easier.

Not to  promote anything, but Planet Renders has  a  thousand of good renders to be search. As long as you aren’t distribute it without permission, you may use it for free.

I used two Renders from this site. Both of them are from Lineage II MMORPG game developed by NCSoft. The Female Elf one and the Male Dark Elf. Off with the tutorials.

Start with a Plain background, Paste the first Render.

I used Black for ease, however. Anyway, I placed the first render in the right corner. Make it easy for the second one to be applied in a Wallpaper. The Resolution ? It’s up to you. I’ve used random for another reason.

If you don’t know for sure how is the quality of yours, don’t worry. I have a method to make it the same for quality.

Paste the Second Render, Transform while needed.

While you realized that the size isn’t the same, you may use Free Transform options. Either from Edit menu or the right clickies. I’ve used Noise on the second to make sure that the quality is poor. How Stupid it is ? Nope. Sometimes you may get worse than this. So just suit with the real condition. The actual Render is far better than the edited one. So Feel free to search for it.

You can always transforming the size by referencing from its head. In short, make it the same for height.

Modification

Firstly, you must Highlight the first render (The Dark Elf one) by clicking the Image on layer while you hold the Ctrl button. It shoud block the whole sections of one layer. Next, take a look at the Image. I felt that the part of the sword should be keep by the selection (and little notice to the armor), and I will erased the selection on the bottom. When you apply this on the other renders : Suit it to your intuitive. Decided which part you feel the best to be in front.

After that, make sure you choose the second renders (In this case, the Female Elf), and without any compromise, press Delete. This would erased the specified section on the first render that should be in front of the image.

The Result should be like this :

Realism (Shadow and Opacity)

6

To make sure that your renders is real enough to deal with, you need its aspect. One of the sense is Shadow. I used Brush Tool instead of blocking it with Feather / Blur fuction. But both of them apply. And then I reduced the opacity (For about 20% left) so the looks will be helluva perfect.

Make it the Same with Effect (The Result) :

What effects/Adjusment Layer I used  to make it good like above ? Well, you will have to Reduce the Noise first. I chose Filter > Noise > Reduce Noise and added the  setting to my interest (But make sure the strength one is at its highest. Well, as you think its good, too.) And last, I apply for Gaussian Blur at Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Again, it’s up to you. Set the Blending Mode to Hard Light and reduce the opacity. The result is shown above.

Think if this render applied in your wallpaper, by its full of effect. It would be good.
